title: Dragon Boat Festival
date: Sunday, 24 May 2009
time:23:50

The traditional Festival has a long history spanning thousands of years. Commonly called the Double Fifth Festival, it was celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth moon. The proper name for this festival was the Upright Sun Festival, but foreigners in China referred to it as the Dragon-Boat Festival.

  1. Origin of the Festival

  2. There are a number folk traditions, beliefs and explanatory myths connected to the observance. Today, the best, most widely known legend relates to the death by suicide of Qu Yuan, a scholar and minister to the King of Chu, in 278 BC an era in Chinese history that is referred to as the Warring States period. Scholars wrote literary works, including poetry. Qu Yuan is commonly referred to as a "poet" and a "statesperson", however he is more properly considered as a ministerial scholar.

  3. Eating Zongzi

  4. It is a traditional snack the Chinese have during the festival. Made of sticky rice, red dates steamed inside a bamboo leaf, Zongzi smells so sweet, a light flavor of bamboo leaves.

  5. Dragon Boat Race

  6. Dragon boat racing is an indispensable part of the festival, held all over the country. As the gun is fired, people will see racers in dragon-shaped canoes pulling the oars harmoniously and hurriedly, accompanied by rapid drums, speeding toward their destination.

date: Friday, 15 May 2009
time:00:46

South China, a never-ending theme for me. If one day you travel to China, never miss old towns there. With such a long history, though everything has changed a lot: Shanghai became one of the most popular metropolises in the world, the surrounding simple but elegant ancient towns still seem peaceful, nostalgic and amiable….

The followings are my suggestion if you wanna an Ancient Towns Travel in China (near Shanghai): Old Town of Xitang, Ancient Town of Zhouzhuang, Wuzhen, Zhujiajiao Old Town, all these are my favorite there. I hope more in the future after more exploration.

title: 北京一日游: 八达岭和明十三陵
date:
time:01:57
You never feel boring when doing sightseeing in Beijing. Today I show you around the symbol of China: Great Wall at Badaling (八达岭长城)as well as another must-see here: Ming Tombs or Thirteen Tombs of the Ming Dynasty (明十三陵).

After 60 miles away from downtown of Beijing, we arrive at the Tombs.

The site of the Ming Tombs was carefully chosen as the imperial cemetery by fengshui masters after careful examination the surrounding area on orders from the indefatigable Emperor Yongle. All but three of the Ming emperors are buried here. The mausoleums have been perfectly preserved, as has the necropolis of each of the many emperors.

Next, after 40 minutes’ drive, we come to the Great Wall at Badaling, one of the most popular parts of Great Wall in Beijing. I think more words seem useless for me to introduce it. Here for u八达岭

Here for you the details about the tour:
